Tea with the Monster

When I was nine, I made a pact with the Monster Under the Bed: every Thursday night, I would make him sugar cookies and peppermint tea and he, in turn, wouldn't eat me. At first, my stuffed animals didn't approve of the agreement, but I convinced them that he would make a valuable ally against the Monster in the Closet, whom we all hated.

And I still honor our agreement to this day.
